The Rondebosch Old Boys’ London Sub-Union is hosting an informal drinks gathering for Old Boys of Bishops & Rondebosch on Wednesday 16 October at 75 Cowcross Street, London, EC1M 6EL starting at 18h30. The occasion will mark the 175th anniversary of the Diocesan College and this is an opportunity for Rondebosch to reciprocate the kind hosting of a similar event by Bishops to mark our 125th two years ago.
Rondebosch Old Boy Jonathan Trott has kindly agreed to address us. Jonathan played 52 test matches, 68 one day internationals and 7 T20s for England from 2007 to 2015. He famously scored 119 on his test debut against Australia in the 2009 Ashes series. Jonathan is presently the coach of the Afghanistan national cricket team and has recently also been appointed as the head coach of Pretoria Capitals in the SA20, the Twenty20 cricket tournament to be played in early 2025 in South Africa.
Jonathan also played for Boland, Western Province, Warwickshire, Otago and South Africa U19.
Numbers need to be limited to around 80 (hopefully a 50:50 split between the two schools), so places will be allocated on a first come/first served basis. Please register asap by emailing Michael Coombs on rbhs@alanbaxter.co.uk
