Europe is possibly facing the worst energy crisis since the end of World War II. The need for fuel to wage any war is nothing new.
The urgency to get fuel to the Allies was what prompted Operation Pedestal. This epic military operation took place 80 years ago this month, in August 1942. Naval officer, Admiral Sir Edward Neville Syfret, R.N., at Bishops from 1899 - 1902 was commander of this mission that formed part of the Battle to Malta.
