Giving Back

Angus is now a final year medicine student, and says he’s ready to move on, since he’s starting to feel like an old student.

WP caught up with him in the cafeteria, where Angus popped in between clinical presentation exams. He is a popular man on campus, and the students, cafeteria- and support staff all know him by name.

Angus has two years of Internship lying ahead, and he’s hoping to serve (community service years) in Nelspruit, Pietermaritzburg, or East London - places that stir his passion for providing healthcare in  rural areas. After that he will be able to register as an independent practitioner.

Angus is a tangible example of the phenomenal difference that ODs who care are making in the world, and in the communities that they find themselves in.

His heart for others in struggling communities is very inspiring.  It is a testament to what he was taught to value as part of his education at Bishops - an education that prioritises serving others through good deeds and actions.
