On Sunday 14th October, Kyran Wright (2005G), OD Administrator, Nicole Durand and Prof. Kenneth Findlay (1978S) attended the Peninsula Canoe Club Inaugural litter clean-up of Zandvlei.

Kyran was recently featured in our newsletters after becoming the new Manager for Zandvlei. Both Kyran and Kenneth are supervisors for Nicole's Masters thesis looking at ecosystem services for the vlei (find out more).

The day was spent trauling the shoreline of the swampland for unfathomable amounts of litter which, in the end, resutled in over 200 full refuse bags and included two mattresses and a few trollies. Needless to say there is still a lot that can (and needs to!) be done to reduce the litter that accumulates in our dwindling natural ecosystems.
