Let us know if someone has passed away

When an OD or friend of the ODU passes away, we always want to be sure to pay proper tribute to them.

One of the most important things that we do at the ODU is to pay respect to ODs who have passed and create a tribute record for them.  Once we have prepared an obituary, we are able to publish the notification and in this way inform classmates and ODs of their passing.

In order to make it easier for family or friends to send us notification, we have added a direct link from our website main menu to a submission form that asks for all the information we need to be able to prepare an obituary.

Details that are important and will appear in the annual issue of the Old Diocesan Magazine include:

  • Personal details (title, name and surname, year and house)
  • The location and place of the passing.
  • Details about the work life of the OD before they retired or passed away.
  • Wherever possible the names of any children and partners left behind.
  • A high quality photograph is very valuable.

In addition to the above, it is always very special when we receive a copy of an obituary that has been written by a family member or friend of the OD who has passed.  These come from the heart and often contain nuggets about the family life, hobbies and profession of the OD that are not always known. This often paints a rich picture of a full life well lived.

Thank you to everyone who has in the past sent us beautiful tributes to their loved ones.
