The ODU constitutional reform process

The constitutional reform process delegated to the Governance sub-committee and undertaken by a team of ODs is building up a head of steam.

The constitutional reform process, delegated to and undertaken by the governance sub-com, is building up a head of steam. It began during the observers period when a drafting committee, headed by David MacGregor and comprised of Arthur Mgxekeza, Dugald Robertson, Guy Lloyd-Roberts and John Macey, drafted the interim amendments which, inter alia, modernised and were adopted at the SGM.  It was resolved that a new, more fit-for-purpose constitution should be prepared for consideration by the Union and initial work commenced. A group of ODs has kindly offered to deliver this and undertook to prepare a new constitution. They asked Hugh Corder (1971S) to oversee their work. The first draft is now with Hugh and will be considered by the ODC governance sub-com in due course. Those involved in the process include Peter Robinson (1966S), Peter Arthur (1965W), Graham Thomas (1984K), Marc van Heerden (2008S), Brian de Kock (1952O) and Nicky Bicket (1973F).
