Richard was born on 17th December 1938 and died in hospital on 10th September 2021.
Richard was at the College from 1951 to 1956, initially at School House but then a founder member of White House in 1954. He wrote matric in 1955 and stayed on to Post-Matric in 1956 when he was a school prefect and headboy of White House.
Richard was an accomplished sportsman excelling at both cricket and rugby and earning colours in both. He played cricket in the 1st team for no less than four years and rugby for three. He also had athletics colours. He played Nuffield cricket for Western Province and, still under 16, was chosen for the Bishops rugby tour to Rhodesia/Zimbabwe in 1954.
Richard made a significant contribution to the school in the six years that he was there.
He leaves his wife, three married daughters and many grandchildren.
