Passing of friends |
Class of 1958, Class of 1957, Class of 1956 |
We received the sad news that Peter Walton (1958,O) passed away in the UK on 25 April. His records show that he left Bishops in standard nine in 1956.
He was very sporty at school having received his house colours for cricket, full school colours for athletics, and half colours for rugby and cricket.
It seems that he went on to become a tobacco farmer in what was then called Rhodesia in 1967 and then moved to Switzerland, followed by a move to Belgium. In 1989 Peter moved back to South Africa where he bought the restaurant, Walts. He continued to travel widely as the Director of Agronomy (Eastern Europe) for Universal, the world's largest tobacco merchants of the time, before settling in the UK.
Peter is pictured above as a school boy and also with his wife, Eileen. They had a son and daughter.
We are awaiting a full written tribute from Don Nelson (1957G) that we will publish when we receive it.
Our sincerest condolences to Eileen, the children and the extended family.
