The sad passing of  Simon “Simpi” Voigt (1995G).

 Simon Voigt - 1977 – 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Simon “Simpi” Voigt, who left us on the 5th September 2025 after a brave struggle with motor neuron disease.

Simon matriculated from Bishops in 1995 and will be remembered for his deep love of sport and art, and above all, for the way he showed up for the people in his life. Simpi had that rare ability to make time — real, unrushed time — for his friends. He was a constant presence in the lives of those he cared about, and his warmth, loyalty, and unmistakable sense of humour brought joy and lightness to every room he entered.

He had a natural gift for making people laugh — not for attention, but to connect, to comfort, and to lift spirits. His humour was part of his generosity: a way he gave of himself, just as freely as he gave his time.

Simon saw beauty in movement and in stillness — whether on the sports field or behind a canvas — and he approached both with passion, creativity, and authenticity.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those he leaves behind: his loving parents Gerry and Patti, his sister Tarryn, and his brothers Wayne and Grant.

A service to honour Simon’s life will be held at 10am on Friday, 19th September 2025, at Common Ground Church, 23 Milner Road, Rondebosch.
