Grant Nupen came to Bishops in March 2001.  He served as the school’s 13th principal until his retirement in 2012.  He had been the Principal at St Alban’s before coming to Bishops. Through his vision for Bishops, the 2010 Conference was established which significantly contributed to the school’s transformation.  His wife Rosemary grew up at Bishops, where her parents, Herby and Joan Selfe lived for 36 years.  One of the most memorable events during Grant’s tenure was the staff conference at Ganzekraal at the beginning of 2002 which a former staff member describes as “a wonderful bonding experience for all”.  One of the senior students in the College said about him: “I really enjoy Mr Nupen’s talks in Assembly; he gives us something to think about.”  Others have said about him: “a gentleman – a great leader – a man of wisdom and integrity”.  After retirement Grant and Rosemary moved to Bryanston, Gauteng.
