The Independent Schools Rugby festival was held at Kingswood College, Grahamstown, from Saturday 23 June to Wednesday 27 June 2018.
From the official website:
"The Independent Schools Rugby Festival is thirty five years old, probably the oldest festival in South Africa. Much has changed in the Rugby world since the festival’s inception and in many ways the Independent Schools' Rugby Festival event has reached a point where it may have to adapt to the current rugby environment in South Africa.

With some challenges ahead it is important to understand the past before we can move forward and therefore an effort was made to research the history of this unique Festival. The event has always shied away from a winning at all costs mentality. In its place, spectators and competitors can look forward to seeing the best what school boy rugby has to offcer, rivaly on the field but not at the expense of friendships being cemented off the field of play.

The philosophy is therefore about making friends, playing hard rugby and interacting with people from all over Southern Africa.

The event is exclusively an Under 18 festival only and players selected for provincial selection are generally excluded.

Michaelhouse hosted the 2014 event, while Bishops hosted the 2016 edition.

Kingswoood College would like to welcome you to the City Lords fields in Grahamstown for this the 2018 edition of this fantastic
festival."
Bishops beat Kingswood College (ranked 25th in South Africa) 19-10 on the Saturday; and Hilton College (ranked 6th in South Africa) 24-17 on the Monday. Congratulations to the present pupils, and also ODs with sons in the side.
