Two ODs to represent South Africa at the U19 Cricket World Cup

The Old Diocesan community extends its warmest congratulations to Adnaan Lagadien (2025F) and Michael Kruiskamp (2026G) on their well-deserved selection for the South African U19 squad heading to the Cricket World Cup.

Adnaan joined Bishops Prep from Ottomans, while Michael arrived from St Peter's in Gauteng, and both have since become central figures in the rise of Bishops cricket. Over the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the pair proved instrumental in the success of the 1st XI, consistently lifting performances and setting new standards.

A naturally gifted, swashbuckling opening batsman, Adnaan sets the tone at the top of the order and can even chip in with the occasional part-time spin when needed.

Michael, just 17, has become a powerful lower-order finisher and an incisive opening bowler, and his leadership qualities are already clear, with him set to serve as one of Bishops' vice-captains in 2026.

Their impact was unmistakable during Bishops' historic triumph at the inaugural SA Schools T20 Championship in March 2025, where both played integral roles, with Adnaan recognised as Batsman of the Tournament.

Adnaan continues to grow in the Rondebosch CC system, and both players have been selected for the Western Province squad for the upcoming Khaya Majola Cricket Week, further testament to their quality.

The UCC U19 Cricket World Cup, hosted across Zimbabwe and Namibia in early 2026, promises intense international exposure, along with the unique challenges of competing in the heat of the African summer, providing an invaluable stage for young talent to rise.

The Bishops and OD community could not be prouder of these two young men. Their journey reflects the spirit, character, and excellence that Bishops strives to inspire.
