Congratulations to Dayaan Cassiem (2017W) , the South African Men's Hockey captain, whose leadership and presence continue to make a major impact. A standout moment in his career came when he led the South African men's side to the Nkosi Cup indoor title, guiding the team with composure, intensity, and belief. That triumph underlined not only his quality as a player, but also his ability to lead a team in high-pressure environments.
Dayaan's journey has been built on enjoying the game, constantly learning, and embracing responsibility. His leadership style reflects maturity and confidence, and his continued growth remains an inspiration to those coming through the South African hockey system. As national skipper, he carries the role with pride and sets the standard both on and off the court.
Looking ahead, Dayaan is set to feature in the Hockey India League (HIL) 2025–26 season, scheduled to run from late 2025 into early 2026. Often described as the hockey version of the IPL, the HIL brings together the world's top talent in a fast-paced, franchise-based competition. It presents another exciting opportunity for Dayaan to test himself at the highest level, gain valuable experience, and continue representing South African hockey with distinction.
