On 8 March, Greg Bolus (2018F) took part in the Calling Cape Town Extreme Triathlon as part of a relay team.

His partner completed the 8km Robben Island swim, while Bolus tackled the Cape Town Cycle Tour, before the pair reunited for the grueling 3 Peaks Challenge, 50km of running with over 3000m of elevation, all within 20 hours.

The event is more than a test of endurance. Calling Cape Town serves as the main fundraising platform for Calling Academy, an organization dedicated to providing high-quality education to learners from low-income backgrounds. The academy has been instrumental in creating opportunities where few existed, positively impacting both students and communities. 

Greg has been closely involved with the academy, witnessing firsthand how the program transforms lives.

The physical challenge was immense. Nighttime runs across mountain terrain, supported by friends, pushed participants to their limits, combining steep ascents with the mental demands of darkness and fatigue. The camaraderie and shared purpose helped carry them through the toughest moments.

Reflecting on the effort, the event was as rewarding as it was demanding. By taking on extreme challenges for a greater cause, Bolus and his team highlighted the power of endurance sports to support meaningful change, inspiring others to embrace difficult tasks and contribute to their communities.
