Who would have thought this is the same building?

In 1927 the Brooke Chapel became the Brooke Memorial Library named after the 5th Principal Archdeacon Richard Brooke.

The Brooke Chapel at Bishops (Bishops Diocesan College) in Rondebosch was built between 1879 and 1880. Its foundation stone was laid in November 1879, and the first formal service took place on 26 January 1881.

The building was designed by Edward Baldwin John Knox.

After the larger War Memorial Chapel was opened, the Brooke Chapel was converted into a library in 1927.

It was re-dedicated as a chapel in 1985, and the building was finally and formally consecrated in October 2024 to coincide with the school's 175th celebrations.
