Rhodes Scholars say farewell to Sophia Rabie and the other scholars elect

Rhodes Scholars and the Bishops/Herschel scholar elect, Sophia Rabie met in Cape Town.

Today was an exciting day for the Bishops Rhodes Scholars/Oxford Community.  Rhodes Scholars met to say farewell to Sophia Rabie the Diocesan College/Herschel scholar for 2023 (far right in the photo above).  Present at the function were a number of OD Rhodes Scholars.

In the photograph, L to R: Chris Haw (1999F), David Hofmeyr (1969O), Chris Trisos (2002B), Joseph Raimondo (2000F), Judge Belinda van Heerden (not an OD, but a Rhodes Scholar, invited to join the ODs for the photograph), Billy Downer (State Advocate and Public Prosecutor), Robert Plummer (1986G), and Sophia Rabie.

Billy Downer, a Rhodes Scholar (SA - at - Large & Brasenose, 1980) was the Keynote speaker, whose address was entitled "Rhodes - Forty years on".  Billy's father Geoffrey was at Bishops (Geoffrey Downer, 1939F).

Other ODs present but not in the photograph are Thomas Brennan (1999K). 

Chris Trisos was the other speaker, his address entitled: 'Behind the Scenes of Dangerous Climate Change'.

The Bishops Community congratulates Sophia and wishes her well for her time at Oxford.
