WP van Zyl (1997K) and Unathi Diniso (1999W) represented the OD Union at the 2017 South African Schools Alumni Association conference in Johannesburg. The conference consisted of about 80 alumni associated representatives from over 40 different schools in South Africa and Namibia. The theme of the conference was “Relevance” and was held at St. Stithians College. The OD Union was very kindly asked to deliver a presentation on our organisation. During the presentation we gave a history of our rich heritage and our values based on the wonderful things that ODs have done in civil society. We could then relate how we, as122 year old institution, could still be relevant through programs such as the numerous events we host, the world class Bishops Mentorship Programme, the Benevolent “Bishops Cares” Society, the Hamilton Mvelase Bursary Fund, Young OD Club, Black OD Body and the Entrepreneurship Network, etc.
