ODs Angus Firth (1984W)Peter Farlem (1987K)Graham Knoop (2005O)Oliver MacRobert (2018F), Tank Lanning (1989S), Matt van Westenbrugge (2018G)William Day (2015F), and WP van Zyl (1997K) made up the OD Tug-of-War team that pulled against the Bishops Staff on Founders Day.
After winning the first pull, which was an extended affair, the ODs were beaten by a deeply determined Staff team during the next two pulls.

The following e-mail message was distributed to the College staff within an hour of the results:

Congratulations to Captain Ronnie Jacobs and his dapper cohort of young and not-so-young TOU-TREKKERS!
The many hours of rigorous training coupled with our term-long focus on team-selection and fine-tuning paid off handsomely in the end, as our men came from behind to comfortably defeat the hand-picked semi-professionals that made up the OD squad!
Though it may not be in the spirit of humble and courageous sportsmanship which so characterizes this College’s extramural endeavours, may I remind everyone that this proud Staff Team currently remains undefeated for 2019?
With kind regards
Warwick Richter (manager)

Afterwards the ODs kindly invited the victorious Staff team to drinks in The Mitre.
Great fun was had by all involved!
