The sad passing of Murray Carlyle (1989O).

Murray ('Bugs') William Lucas Carlyle - 21/02/1972 - 2025.

We are very sad to announce the passing of Murray.  His close friend George Joubert provided the following tribute:

He was kind to all and revered in return. This world is much dimmer without Murray - an excellent friend – loyal, irreverent, challenging, funny and iron-willed. He gave as good as he got, with a twinkle in the eye and a wry smile. Bugs made the most of his many talents and never stopped grinding. He adored family, friends and especially his three treasured sons. Liam, Cole and Jude.  Our loss is immense.

No matter what challenging situation confronted him, Murray would somehow find the humour in it. Nothing got him down for long. When he put his mind to something, he committed completely. He worked like a Trojan and gamboled like a Jester. He was skilled at a great many things, and he competed extremely hard and cared little for the outcome. We will carry the spirit of Murray with us. Always missed; never forgotten.

Murray was a House prefect in Ogilvie House in the year he matriculated.

He was a Seaman in the Cadet Corps.

He represented the school in the 1st Golfing team.

He played 2nd Team Rugby & Cricket.

He was the Mountain Club Secretary.

Our deep condolences got to his children, Liam, Cole and Jude, and his family.

Requiescat in Pace.

A Memorial Service will be held at 14h30 in the Bishops Chapel on Monday 15 September followed by refreshments at the Clubhouse in Constantia.
