Bishops Diocesan College has been awarded the coveted Blue Heritage Plaque.  The plaque is now proudly displayed in the foyer of the admin building at the College.  This prestigious honor comes ahead of the 175th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the history of the school.

The Blue Plaque Schools Project, an initiative founded in 2015 by the Centre for Conservation Education and the Simon van der Stel Foundation, has bestowed this accolade upon only 36 schools throughout the Western Cape.

Every application for a Blue Heritage Plaque is meticulously considered on its merits by a panel of adjudicators, representing a collaboration between the Heritage Association of South Africa (HASA), various heritage foundations, and the Centre for Conservation Education. This careful evaluation ensures that each plaque is awarded to a school that truly encapsulates the spirit of educational excellence and community impact.

Among the institutions joining the ranks of honorees are Paarl Boys’ High, Paarl Girls’ High, Rhenish Girls’ High School in Stellenbosch and Rustenburg Girls’ Junior School in Rondebosch (acknowledged for its architecturally significant building, Rustenburg House).

This Blue Heritage Plaque is a symbol of distinction and serves as a testament to a school's contribution to its community and the broader landscape of education.

Congratulations to Principal Tony Reeler and all those working to build the legacy of Bishops.
