On Wednesday 3 April 2019 The Mitre welcomed a visit by OD Committee member Jonathan Carter (1991F). Jonathan brought his son, Luke (currently at the Prep) to visit the Music Director for an organ playing lesson. On their way to the John Peake Music School they popped into The Mitre to see a book that was written by Jonathan's Grandfather, Edward Carter (1922G), who was the first Carter to come to Bishops in 1917. The book titled The Dovetons of St. Helena, relates the relationships of the Doveton family with particularly the Carters, McDonalds, Moores and Maynards of South Africa.
In 2017 the Carters celebrated a 100 year connection with Bishops. The middle link is David Carter (1958G), Jonathan's Dad, past Bishops Council Chairman and OD Vice-President.
The full article of 100 Years of Carters at Bishops appears on page 131 of the DC Magazine March 2017.

Also visiting The Mitre was Northern Province Branch Secretary Simon Grose (1977F). Simon very kindly hosted the OD Secretary at their family-run Hotel in Cornwall in 2018, and it was good to hear that a new spa is being built at the Hotel. For a truly wonderful England Hotel experience, please check out the beautiful Hotel at www.mullion-cove.co.uk

Simon also purchased a smart looking OD Blazer. These are available at the OD Offices at R1 500.00
