A great morning at The Mitre, with around 40 ODs and friends joining us for an inspiring and informative OD Business Breakfast, supported by Zoho. Dr Chris Haw (1999F), founder of SOLA, shared the story of building a solar power company in a heavily regulated energy sector, combining engineering, entrepreneurship and plenty of perseverance. Chris spoke candidly about the highs and lows, the tough times and the lessons learnt, as well as the realities and opportunities of doing business in South Africa and across Southern Africa. The interest was clear, with six or seven younger ODs staying behind afterwards to continue the conversation and ask Chris more questions. A really worthwhile morning with ODs enjoying the opportunity to connect, learn and share their stories and experience.
